PERSEPHONE I - VIII

The series PERSEPHONE is a documentation of the traces of a person’s existence.

It was photographed in my neighbor's apartment in San Francisco, an elderly Greek immigrant named Persephone, in the home she had inhabited for more than 35 years, on the day she was admitted to a retirement home, leaving behind traces of her life that are faint yet lurid.

Life seems to have permeated and superseded the walls, creating a structure of its own with markings like fingerprints that hint at the presence of the life once within them.

They will soon disappear and be lost. I hope to have preserved this unique state as a memory of Persephone’s existence.
